'''Paju''' is a Draconian that doesn't fit any of the five main groups (Drakes, Wyverns, Vokuns, Dragons, Vogons), but most closely resembles a drake. From his back grow many long feathers, forming something like a cape. He has two tails, a very rare, but not unheard of, trait among Draconians.

He's both bipedal and quadrupedal; he can switch between postures easily.

He lives on the outskirts of a semi-large settlement, his main pastime being taking care of his garden, his pride and joy. One day, he finds an odd, huge bulb-like thing has suddenly appeared in it... Hijinks ensue.

He may make a cameo in the main plot of Voicindra, but I mostly plan to include him in his own short story.

After that came a storyboard, with a voiceover from me ([[User:Drakonic|akesi wakon]]).

It was pretty smooth sailing so far. I reached out to jan Kekan San for a voiceover and some linguistic guidance. But things got tricky at the animation stage of the project. I couldn't decide on a visual style for the film...

The original plan was to animate the whole thing in Adobe Animate.

I didn't like how it looked... So I started over.

I animated in Krita, using a brush with no antialiasing and on a 480x270px canvas. After exporting the frames, I ran this command to resize them:

One more final change: I found that I liked the film better without solid colors, just lines. And that's how the final version came to be!

== Synopsis ==

Soweli, feeling bad because of its loneliness, sets out to find a friend. Along the way it meets Waso and Kala, but they don't get along well... Eventually, though, Soweli finds Jan. They are perfect for eachother!

== Development ==

The first ideas for the film started brewing in a [https://drawpile.net/ Drawpile] session with my friends from [https://sona.pona.la/wiki/Communities#Telegram kulupijaso].

After that came a storyboard, with a voiceover from me ([[User:Drakonic|akesi wakon]]).

It was pretty smooth sailing so far. I reached out to jan Kekan San for a voiceover and some linguistic guidance. But things got tricky at the animation stage of the project. I couldn't decide on a visual style for the film...

The original plan was to animate the whole thing in Adobe Animate.

I didn't like how it looked... So I started over.

I animated in Krita, using a brush with no antialiasing and on a 480x270px canvas. After exporting the frames, I ran this command to resize them:

One more final change: I found that I liked the film better without solid colors, just lines. And that's how the final version came to be!

For some compositing and final editing I used After Effects and Davinci Resolve.

This was my 2nd semester project at ASP Wrocław, and was supposed to be finished about a month or two ago. It ended up taking a bit longer...
It wasn't really supposed to end up with such a long runtime.. Well, these things happen in the creative process.
At multiple times I regretted choosing this topic for my semester film. But I'm glad I did pull through. I think this did help me work through my medical trauma, at least a little bit. And maybe it'll resonate with some people out there.
Those "mechaguts" are an analogy to my (luckily temporary) ostomy, just want to put that out there. Not a literal ostomy for a couple reasons, including that I'd rather not recall what it actually looked like to stare into my own intestine.
Usually ostomies are an improvement in quality of life too. I'm an outlier, and don't want people to think ostomies are inherently bad or scary or something. Mine was a very rare case.

Ah, yes, I should mention: I do not consider myself human. This film is a bit about that too.
I use the label "therian" as a shorthand to explain. (I'm not a fox/wolf. The character is a stand-in.)
You'd think confronting my body and its nature would make me less convinced of that. Had the opposite effect, actually.
