Yummo mystery snack box

I’m a sucker for blind bags and mystery boxes, especially when it comes to food and snacks - I get to try new things, often things I wouldn’t think to try if I were doing the choosing. So far I’ve been satisfying the craving by sometimes grabbing bags from services like Too Good To Go… But recently I’ve been wanting to try some stuff from different countries. I remembered that there are like, subscription boxes in the US for this sort of thing, and started looking for something like that that’s local to me.

Yummo.pl is a polish online store offering sweets, drinks and snacks from the UK, America, China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan. They offer a couple mystery boxes, one for american treats, one for asian, each with a standard and small size. The one I ordered was the standard Asia mystery box.

The box

The package arrived within 2 days, so quite fast, but this is pretty much the norm over here with Inpost shipping.

It’s very nice that they don’t use any plastic for packing or package filler.

The contents

Within the box, there were 8 items.

Variety

1 drink, 2 salty foods and 5 sweet foods. Definitely leaning towards sweets.

I was a little disappointed by the particular choice of items, as half of them are avaliable in a store near me, and I had already bought and tried two… :S

Taste

Fanta Grape - I wasn’t expecting much from this, but it’s a very good soda with a pretty unique flavour! I might get this again at some point, as a treat…

Chicken and Cheese Ramen - Horrible. Personally, I kind of hate spicy instant ramen/noodles, not because I hate spice, but because there’s really no other flavour to it other than the burning in your mouth. I hoped that the cheese flavouring would provide something to the flavour profile, but all I tasted was the burning.

Pringles BBQ Steak - My favourite flavour of Pringles I’ve had so far. But… they’re Pringles… they’re not that great…

Red bean mochi - I’ve had these before. They’re fine. I like sweets with red bean paste.

Baumkuchen Strawberry - Lovely moist and sweet cake-bread. The strawberry flavouring was nice, but I feel I’d like any of the other avaliable flavours (caramel, honey, milk, matcha) more. I’m not a particularly big fan of pastries with fruit flavouring. Very good, probably my favourite out of the items I got in the box.

Pepero Crunchy - Probably my favourite Pocky-type biscuit I’ve had thus far. The little crunchies are very good, it’s got tasty chocolate, and the biscuit has this particular flavour I can’t quite figure out where I remember from.

Oreo White Chocolate Wafer - It’s a nice chocolate wafer. I don’t understand what’s so special about it though. It’s just your standard chocolate wafer bar.

Puku Puku Strawberry Whipped Cream Fish - I believe I’ve had a different flavour of this wafer before. It’s pretty good. I would love a more standard packaged taiyaki, though… (even if it’s not as good as a real one)

Value

The mystery box costs 110pln (plus shipping)

Looking up the prices of the individual items in the store, if I were to order them outside the box, the total would come around to 102pln, which is… cheaper?? I thought the point of these boxes was partly to get more bang for your buck! I could probably save even more by looking for these products in other stores…

Conclusion

Well, I don’t think I will be ordering this again. Still, I think this was worth a shot. I did get surprised, and I did get to try a couple new things I ended up liking.

Thanks for reading, until next time<3
